The first fault is I spend far too many hours reading food magazines, food blogs and watching cooking shows. This means I have copied, pasted, printed, bookmarked, saved and torn out enough recipes to put me in the "obsessive complusive" catagory.
The second fault is purchasing cooking and baking equipment, some of which are seldom used and there are a few which are still in the packaging, who knows how long after they were purchased.
But, I don't forget the things I buy, I know exactly where they are - I just haven't had the right recipe (see fault one) to use them. When I came across this recipe from Nina, at My Easy Cooking, I knew I would be able to use the huge baking tin I bought about 8 months ago, which was still in it's original packaging.
When I read Nina discription "This chocolate cake recipe is unconventional, dead-easy to make, egg free and you use only one bowl for mixing and baking" and "...it makes a huge cake", I was set. I went straight to copy, paste and print!
I did make one change, I left out the 1/2 tsp fine cloves and 1 tsp fine cinnamon and dissolved 6 heaped spoons of instant coffee into the boiling water. Please click here for the recipe and instuctions.

wow that looks spectacular. I love buying kitchen stuff too but I really have no space in my tiny kitchen for what I have already so have stopped buying until we move
You? Have faults? No way! :)
Raven - Space is a problem, some of my stuff has to be stored in a cupboard in the lounge!
Cynthia - LOL, I love it!
The cake looks gorgeous and your photos are stunning!
What size tin did this do? It didn't say in the recipe. Yours looks round. I'm just wondering if it will do in my big roasting pyrex dish. The biggest round cake tin I've got is 23cm... may have to start collecting again!
the faults are incurable :P so, happy baking!
Funny, those don't sound like faults to me :)
The cake looks super and I like the mocha take better than the spiced original. Made a tart a few days ago that used a tart pan I purchased quite a while back...but I was so glad to have it when needed :)
Wow! I am drooling over the photo of the chocolate cake! I am so in love with it! And yeah, as for the kitchen. No space for new stuff for me.
Kit - This is a very big round pan, about cm round. Your large pyrex will work fine, I think that's what Nina used.
Gattina - Thanks, I these are 2 faults I think my family can live with.
Elle - That's how I feel, when I need something, I am always glad I have it - even if it doesn't get used too often.
Dining Room - I sorted out my space problem by getting hubby to re-model my kitchen!
Good heavens, look at the state of that!! Pure decadence.
I am so baking this cake!!!! love your pictures!!!
